Boil your kettle and add the required amount of salt to a jam jar. Mix your boiled water into the jar and allow the salt to dissolve. (1/4 teaspoon of sea salt to 1/4 pint of boiled water)
Allow this to cool to a warm bath temperature.
Submerge your piercing in the jar of hot salt water and leave it there to soak for 4-5 minutes.

lip piercing

When you have finished soaking, take a cotton bud and wet it in the salt solution. Use this to clean around the ball/gem and the skin/piercing hole, gently removing any matter.

Rinse the piercing with clean water and let it dry.

You have also been given some homeopathic anti-inflammatory tablets.
The dosage is 1 tablet 3 times a day until they are finished.
Tip one from the bag into a container, then tip into the mouth and suck them like a sweet until they fully dissolve.

  • DO NOT TOUCH THE TABLETS WITH YOUR HANDS:  this destroys their effectiveness.

  • DO NOT SWALLOW THE TABLETS WHOLE.

TROUBLESHOOTING ..

Now sometimes your piercing can be a little red or swollen  and even some healing bumps can appear around the piercing holes. this isn't an infection but does need to be treated. Ideally come into the studio for us to check out what is happening .But the first course of action is to get some camomile teabags. Mix up your your hot salt water as normal, but add a camomile tea bag to it for a minute, then take the bag out, allow to cool, but whilst still hot, fold and place over the front and back of the piercing. As it cools redip it in the hot salt water and reapply. do this for 5-7 minutes and then use the camomile salt solution with the kitchen roll and then soak for a further 5 minutes and clean as normal. Do this for 2-3 times a day and if the swelling doesn't improve then come and see us
